Preparing
1. Storing your files: While we are recording each day, we’ll be writing WAV files to my hard drive. Those files belong to you. I am glad to store your files for 90 days. Eventually, you should buy a flash drive and I will transfer your files to that device. You can do this each day (when the daily session is complete) or when your total sessions are done. You can take those files to any studio running Pro Tools and will open up for easy editing or work. But if a tornado (or a zombie attack) destroys my studio and your files are gone… I can’t help that. It’s in your best interests to back the project up and keep everything. Each song size will vary from 300 MBytes and sometimes much larger. Ask me about your files during your session.
2. Kids: The studio isn’t able to keep an active kid happy. It’s best not to bring small children to the studio.
3. Available schedule – The studio hours are from:
- Monday – Friday = 4 PM – 9 PM
- Saturday and Sunday = 8 AM – 9 PM
Feel free to call or text (214) 212-5532. Don’t call or text in the middle of the night.
4. How to book time: You pay for the first hour, in advance. That costs $ 35. This does 2 things:
- Pays for your first hour
- Gets you on my schedule. I won’t book a session without a deposit.
If you’re booking a 1 hour session, or 10 hours, you still pay the same $ 35 deposit.
5. Reschedules and cancellation
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, then please notify me at least 5 days in advance of your session for a complete refund. Short notice cancellations and people that just don’t show up will lose the deposit.
Your studio time will start on time, whether you are there or not. Please don’t be late.
6. Bringing files to me
Perhaps you already have some recorded tracks and you’re going to bring them into the studio. We will load your load your tracks into my Pro Tools HD system and start working. You can save a lot of time and money if your files are ready to go on a flash drive or on Dropbox.
If you’re not using Pro Tools – I can work with a lot of different file formats and options – but this is what I would like you to bring:
Export each track individually;
- Full length of song (all tracks for each song should be the same length as the finished song)
- Volume set to zero; Not loud, not quiet
- No effects
- Mono tracks (I can still pan them)
- 24 bit
- 48 kHz sample rate
- WAV format (Microsoft PCM)
- Some description for a file name (BassGuitar.wav, SoloGuitar.wav)
If your files are different than this – just warn me and I’ll verify there is no problem.
